Yesterday, the Oyo State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade.
The visit was marked by a warm reception from Hon. Olufade and the management team of Ibadan North Local Government.
The Oyo State NYSC Media Officer, Mr. Kola Oladele, introduced the delegation accompanying the state coordinator.
In his welcome address, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade expressed his delight at receiving the state coordinator and his team, acknowledging the delay in this visit and expressing gratitude that it finally took place.
He praised Comrade Odoba Abel Oche for his impactful work in Oyo State, particularly in Ibadan North Local Government, which he described as the “headlamp” of the state’s 33 local governments.
Hon. Olufade commended Mrs. Obarinde, the Local Government Inspector for Ibadan North Main Council, for her dedication to the NYSC program.
He reiterated his campaign promise to build a corps members’ lodge and improve the conditions for community development service activities.
In his remarks, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche thanked Hon. Olufade for the warm reception and praised the beautification of the chairman’s office.
He congratulated Hon. Olufade on his electoral victory and noted the positive feedback he had received about the chairman’s vibrant and intelligent leadership.
The coordinator expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to corps members and NYSC staff by Ibadan North Local Government.
Highlighting Oyo State’s pioneering role in the NYSC scheme, Comrade Oche mentioned how Oyo state was the first state to pay corps members a stipend of ₦15,000.
He urged the local government to continue its support and suggested providing stipends to the Local Government Inspectors (LGIs), Corps Liaison Officers (CLOs), and corps members. He also sought the chairman’s support for the ongoing construction of a 5000-capacity hall at the Oyo State NYSC orientation camp in Iseyin.
Alhaja Kudirat Nojimudeen, Director of Education and Social Services, praised the NYSC coordinator and commended Hon. Olufade for his dynamic leadership. She introduced ex-corps member Miss Mojisola Akinriande, recommending her for employment due to her exemplary service.
She also introduced another serving corps member, Miss Oluwalusi Oluwatosin, who is serving diligently.
Hon. Olufade recognized the presence of the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, whom he described as a respected leader. He pledged a donation of ₦1 million towards the construction of the NYSC hall and approved stipends for the LGI, CLO, and corps members.
He also promised efforts to secure state employment for outstanding corps members.
Engineer Akeem Olatunji lauded Hon. Olufade’s leadership in Ibadan North Local Government, describing him as a good brother.
He said their relationship goes beyond politics. He assured the state coordinator of building a corps members’ lodge in Oluyole Local Government.
He mentioned that the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria(ALGON) would deliberate on contributions to the NYSC 5000 capacity hall project.
Mr. Akeem Olatunji, Head of Local Government Administration in Ibadan North, gave a vote of thanks, appreciating the NYSC state coordinator’s dedication to corps members and the local government.
The NYSC state coordinator’s entourage included Mrs. Omaji Margereth, Assistant Director of Deployment and Relocation; Mrs. Sylvia Oluwaseyi, Assistant Director of Community Development Service; Mrs. Kolade C.K., Ibadan North Zonal Inspector; Mrs. Bola Obarinde, Ibadan North 1 Local Government Inspector; Mr. John Orimogunje, Ibadan North 1 Local Government Inspector; and other officials.
