Ibadan North LG Chairman, Olufade, Swears In Saheed Muritala as Special Assistant

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has formally sworn in Mr. Saheed Muritala as the newly appointed Special Assistant to the Chairman, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to loyalty, inclusiveness, and effective grassroots governance.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat, Agodi Gate, Ibadan, followed the termination of the appointment of the former Special Assistant, Mr. Idris Ajibola, whose disengagement took immediate effect.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Olufade described the appointment of Mr. Saheed Muritala as well-deserved, noting his steadfast commitment, loyalty, and productivity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the years. According to the Chairman, the decision to appoint Muritala was deliberately returned to Ward 3 to ensure political balance and fair representation.

“This appointment was thrown back to Ward 3 for proper balancing, and your name was unanimously pushed forward by the people of the ward,” Olufade stated.

“I urge you not to relent in your commitment to the party and to remain productive in the service of Ibadan North Local Government.”

The Chairman emphasized that the appointment reflects the collective will of the people and his administration’s belief in rewarding dedication and loyalty to the party and the grassroots.

The Oath of Office was administered by the Deputy Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Oketunbi Olusegun, while the Head of Local Government Administration, Deacon Olabode Abayomi Ajebisi, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the Chairman for his leadership and inclusive approach to governance.

The event was well attended by top political and administrative figures, including the Vice Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Akeem Ayoade; Oyo State House of Assembly member, Hon. Olufunke Comforter; Leader of the House, Hon. Taiwo Adebola; Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Oluwafemi Oladejo Bantu; and the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Hon. Hamdy Mustapha.

Others present included the Ibadan North PDP Chairman; Comrade Mustapha Ademuyiwa, Oyo State PDP Public Relations Officer, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, Ibadan North PDP Leader, Baba Ismail Ashipa; Chairman, Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Hon. Falana Adebowale; Chairman, Governing Council, Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro; Hon. Kazeem Alimi, PDP local government executives, councilors, supervisory councilors, special assistants, party faithfuls, and members of the Ibadan North Local Government management team.

It would be recalled that Hon. Olufade had earlier approved the termination of the appointment of Mr. Idris Ajibola, directing him to immediately desist from parading himself as a Special Assistant, in line with administrative procedures.

The subsequent appointment of Mr. Saheed Muritala who hails from the same ward further underscores the Chairman’s commitment to discipline, continuity, fairness, and political balance.

The appointment letter, personally signed by Hon. Oluwaseun Oluwatobi Olufade, reiterates the Chairman’s constitutional authority to appoint and disengage political aides in the best interest of the council and the people of Ibadan North Local Government.
