Ibadan North Lawmaker Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) Honoured with People’s Mandate Award at Radio Nigeria Press Week
The federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN), has been honoured with the People’s Mandate Award by Radio Nigeria as part of activities marking the station’s 2025 Press Week held in Ibadan.

Hon. Oyekunle, who also served as Chairman of the occasion, commended the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio Nigeria Chapel, for organizing what he described as a well-coordinated and impactful event. He noted that journalism remains a critical pillar of democracy, emphasizing its role as the watchdog of society.

Speaking after receiving the award, the lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining a strong working relationship between journalists and the legislature. According to him, “Journalists are the watchdog of every society. As a lawmaker who represents the interests of the people, there must always be a good synergy between both institutions to strengthen accountability, transparency, and good governance.”

The award was presented to Hon. Oyekunle by the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, who was represented by the Deputy Director of Programmes, Rev. Niyi Dahunsi.

Other distinguished personalities who received recognition awards at the event include the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, and the Sole Administrator of the Pacesetter Transport Service, Hon. Ibrahim Dikko, The Chairman Nigerian Union Journalist, Chief Demola Babalola among others.
The event brought together media professionals, public office holders, and stakeholders committed to advancing responsible journalism and democratic governance in Oyo State.
