Adekanmbi also acknowledged the support of Governor Seyi Makinde for local government chairmen across the state, noting that the governor’s leadership had created an enabling environment for council administrations to deliver developmental projects.

In his remarks, Akintayo said his administration remained committed to making a positive difference through the provision of infrastructure and the creation of economic opportunities for traders and other residents.

He explained that the new market would enable traders to expand their businesses, generate income, support their families and stimulate economic activities within Jonku and neighbouring communities.

The council chairman further disclosed that the infrastructure projects executed by his administration collectively represented an investment valued at over N40 billion.

“We aspire to leave behind a local government with functional infrastructure, establish developmental structures and sustainable projects that will make governance easier and more effective for whoever assumes leadership after this administration,” Akintayo said.

In his response, Chief Bayo Oyero expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the honour of naming the market after him, describing the project as a commendable legacy that would benefit residents and generations of traders.

Oyero praised Akintayo for the initiative, noting that the construction of the market demonstrated his commitment to leaving lasting developmental footprints in the local government.

He also commended Governor Makinde for supporting the council administration, stressing that such a project might not have been possible without the state government’s backing.

The commissioning marks another addition to the infrastructure development efforts of the Ibadan North-East Local Government, particularly in the area of commercial development and grassroots economic empowerment.
