GSM/ ELEGANT CUP: Ido Council Chair Adeojo Rewards Best Football Teams With Trophy, Cash Prizes
The Executive Chairman of Ido local government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo has presented the 2023 GSM/Elegant Cup trophy to Community High School, Elenusonso.
Adeojo made the presentation after the competition’s final match between Community High School and Bako Community Grammar School played at
Elenusonso pitch.
The 2023 edition of the GSM/Elegant football competition Ido was organized by Hon. Sheriff Adeojo’s led administration, in conjunction with Elegant to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship among secondary school students in Ido local government.
GSM/Elegant football competition features 27 secondary schools, all within the Ido local government area.
During the final match of the competition, Alawode Ayomide with Jersey number 11 scored the only winning goal for Community High School against their opponent,
Bako Community Grammar School
The player, Alawode Ayomide won the Best Goal Scorer in the competition with a prize of Five thousand naira, while
Ibrahim Sodiq won the Competition Best Player and Adewuyi Abeeb with Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Philip Simeon also went home with the Youngest Player Award. Sodiq, Abeeb, and Simeon also received five thousand each five their outstanding performance.
Adeojo, the council chairman while presenting the trophy to the winner also presented a cash gift of one hundred thousand naira (#100,000) to
Community High School, Elenusonso, and Fifty thousand naira (#50,000) and twenty-five thousand ( #25,000) respectively to Bako Community Grammar School and Bode-Igbo School as consolation prizes for being second and third winners in the competition.
Among the side attractions of the 2023 GSM /Elegant Cup for Ido local government was the presentation of the Award of Excellence to the chairman
of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCORPS), Mr. Oladiti for for his meritorious service to education in the local government.
