Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, stated that he would have a say in determining who will occupy the Agodi Government House to succeed him in 2027.

Makinde, who said that though he may not have his way in the final choice and eventual occupier, he will still have his say, noted that the final decision on the successor solely lies with the people of the state.

He also said members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state would have him to contend with in making a final decision, adding that he is still the one controlling the party structure in the state.

Makinde stated this while receiving the report of the Committee on Review and Update of Public Service Rules and Other Regulations in the State Civil/Public Service.

“So, I want to say thank you to this committee. It has taken almost a year to get here but I still have two years and seven months left.

“Those who are campaigning to be the next governor would still have to wait because I will be here till May 29th, 2027. And I will also have a say in who is going to become the next Governor.

“I may not have my way because it is Oyo State people that will decide but I will have a say, especially for those in the PDP. They have me to contend with. I am still the one controlling the structure,” Makinde stated.

The brief ceremony was held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Oyo state Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, and attended by top government functionaries as well as party stalwarts, among other dignitaries.

The committee was headed by a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG)/ Head of Service, Chief Bisi Adesola
