FOSSU National Council Commends Makinde for Providing Electric Motorcycles to Student Leaders

The leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU) National Council has commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for approving the distribution of electric motorcycles to student leadership structures across the state.

 

The commendation followed the presentation of two electric motorcycles to the FOSSU National Council on Friday, September 11, 2026, as part of the state government’s latest intervention aimed at supporting student leadership and improving mobility.

 

The Presidents of the five FOSSU Zonal Councils in Oyo State also benefited from the initiative, which the student body described as a demonstration of Governor Makinde’s recognition of the importance of student leadership in the development of the state.

 

In a statement signed by the National President of FOSSU, Ahmed A. Mufutau, the council described the gesture as another demonstration of the governor’s commitment to the welfare and development of students and young people across Oyo State.

 

According to the council, the provision of the motorcycles will provide practical logistical support for student leaders while further strengthening the relationship between the state government and the student community.

 

FOSSU described Governor Makinde as a “student-friendly Governor,” noting that his administration had consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare and progress of students through various interventions.

 

The council also commended the governor for his continued commitment to the Oyo State Students’ Bursary Scheme, particularly the approval and payment of bursaries in previous cycles.

 

It said the bursary intervention had provided financial relief to thousands of students and demonstrated the administration’s understanding of the economic challenges confronting students and their families.

 

The student body also recalled the governor’s earlier provision of buses to support student leadership structures, describing the latest provision of electric motorcycles as evidence of a sustained commitment rather than a one-off intervention.

 

“FOSSU National Council acknowledges that these interventions are more than material provisions; they are practical demonstrations of a government that listens to its students and recognises the role of young people in the development of Oyo State,” the statement said.

 

The council assured the Oyo State Government of the continued cooperation and constructive partnership of the student community in the collective effort to build a more prosperous and inclusive state.

 

FOSSU also appreciated members of the Oyo State Government and the governor’s team for their efforts, particularly Hon. Olojede Victor Dideoluwa, whom it credited for his continued commitment to advancing the interests of Oyo State students.

 

The council said the latest intervention had “touched the hearts of students across the state” and reinforced its belief that investing in students amounts to investing in the future of Oyo State.
