EXCLUSIVE: APM Clears Path for Fadiran Rasaq’s Second Term Bid as Stakeholders Speak with One Voice

The incumbent Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Fadiran Rasaq, has emerged as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following a unanimous endorsement by party stakeholders ahead of the 2026 Local Government Election.

The resolution was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting presided over by prominent party leader, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, where leaders from across the local government agreed to rally behind the incumbent chairman in the interest of party unity.

Documents obtained by newsmen showed that the meeting, held on August 2, 2026, was attended by 15 stakeholders representing various blocs within the party. Among those present were Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Alhaji Muraina Siaba, Alhaji Mutiu Sikiru, Elder Gbola Adeleke, Hon. Adeola Bamidele, Alhaji Waheed Shittu and Mr. Nimiola Abideen.

According to the report, seven aspirants initially signified interest in contesting for the party’s chairmanship ticket. However, after extensive consultations, three aspirants voluntarily stepped down, while the stakeholders unanimously agreed to adopt Hon. Fadiran Rasaq as the consensus candidate.

The stakeholders noted that the decision was taken after considering the need to sustain party cohesion and consolidate on the achievements of the incumbent administration in Iseyin Local Government.

Newsmen gathered that the resolution was endorsed through the signatures of the stakeholders present, with the Secretary of the Stakeholders, Mr. Adediran Kola, affirming in the final communiqué that Hon. Fadiran Rasaq had been unanimously adopted as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the 2026 Local Government Election.

Meanwhile, reliable party sources disclosed that the consensus candidate has also been cleared by the APM leadership at the state level. An official announcement confirming his clearance and candidature is expected later on Sunday night.

The development effectively ends speculation over the party’s chairmanship ticket in Iseyin and positions the incumbent chairman to seek another term in office under the platform of the All Peoples Movement (APM).
