Egbeda Local Government Distributes Palliatives To Vulnerable Residents

In a move to mitigate the effects of economic hardship on its residents, the Egbeda Local Government has distributed palliatives to vulnerable individuals and groups within the community.

The distribution exercise, which took place on Tuesday was flagged off by the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, at the local government secretariat.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Oyedele said the palliatives were provided by the Oyo State Emergency Management Authority (SEMA), led by Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, to cushion the effects of economic hardship on residents.

“We are committed to ensuring that our residents are not left behind in the midst of economic challenges,” Hon. Oyedele said. “These palliatives are meant to provide relief to those who need it most, and we will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that our residents receive the support they need.”

Monumental Legacy

The palliatives, comprising maize and garri, were distributed to various groups, including people with disabilities, security agents, boarding public schools, religious bodies, traditional leaders, community leaders, ICPC, orphanages, NCWS, and other vulnerable groups.

Beneficiaries of the palliatives expressed gratitude to the local government and SEMA for the gesture, saying it would go a long way in alleviating their suffering.

The distribution of palliatives is part of the state government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of residents and provide relief to those affected by economic hardship.
