Egbeda LG Inaugurates Committee to Promote Peace between Farmers and Herders

As a way to prevent conflict and provide resolution between farmers and herders which align with state law that prohibits open grazing of livestock at local government level.

The Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele has inaugurated local government Advisory Committee known as Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between farmers and Bororo-Fulani herdsmen with the inclusion of additional members in Egbeda local government, which is in line with the guidelines on Conflict Prevention and Resolution Committee(CPRC).

The aim of the inauguration is to provide support to increase capacity for conflicts prevention and resolution among farmers and herders in Egbeda local government.

“When the leaders genuinely care about their people, they provide security, create conducive environment and improve performance with long term success” said the chairman.

The chairman urged the newly inaugurated committee members to always use their moralty of revealing genuine information with evidence to security agents, said, “If you see something, say something”

He advised them to run through the circular given to them so as to know the purpose of being inaugurated which is clearly stated and more explanatory.

Stressed that, both farmers and herders are both meant for economy purpose hence, they should give room for already existed peaceful coexistence in Egbeda local government communities

Amongst the dignitaries at the inauguration are include, Vice Chairman, Leader of the house, Deputy leader, HLGA, DPO, NSCDC, Immigration, DSS, AFAN, CAN, Imam, Miyettih Allah(MACBAN), vigilante, traditional council and HODs.
