Egbeda LG, Brain Builders Initiative Collaborate on Citizen Participation, Good Governance

The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele commended the Executive Director of a non-governmental organisation known as Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative Mrs. Nurah Jimoh-Sanni(Esq) and her team for organised a town hall meeting on Inclusion, Transparency and Accountability aimed at strengthening local leadership and citizen participation at the local government level.

In his word while declared opened the town hall meeting” the chairman said, “l want to appreciate the organiser of this programme for your initiative to bring such educative meeting to Egbeda local government,
your efforts is highly commendable”.

The chairman also appreciated the presence of the organiser and participants, assured that the local government will not hesitate to have a cordial relationship with the non governmental organisation. He affirmed that, as the government has its responsibilities to perform on the citizenry so also the citizens have their civic duties to the government.

First Lady Birthday

During his lecture as a guest speaker at the town hall meeting, held at Egbeda local government main secretariat, Prince (Dr) Ayobami Sanda Ladigbolu who spoke on the programme themed: Building People – Centered Local Government through Active Citizen Engagement, defined the key points of the topic, that civic engagement is the process in which people participate actively in community development while advocacy is the hearing, listening and raising of voice of the masses.

Stressed that the meeting is to engage with young people, to foster dialogue with elected officials, and to promote youth participation in governance.

The meeting also serve as a platform to address issues like civic empathy, track campaign promises, and ultimately, the goal is to empower young citizens to actively shape their future and hold leaders accountable.

Monumental Legacy

According to the Executive Director of Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, Mrs Nurah Jimoh-Sanni (Esq) said the meeting was designed to facilitate dialogue and give opportunity for open and transparent interaction between citizens and law makers at the grassroots.

Participants are drawn from various groups and organisations of the council area such as traditional council, CDC, FOMWAN, NCWS, youths, Super for Youths and Sports, Hon. Adio Babatunde Qozeem, religious leaders, farmers, market leaders, NGOs, and so on.
