The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and State Chairman of all Oyo State Council Chairmen, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, was on Thursday honoured with an award of excellence by Urban Day Grammar School, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
The award, presented during the school’s Inter-House Sports Competition on November 20, 2025, recognises his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the development of grassroots sports in Egbeda Local Government and Oyo State at large.
According to the school authorities, Hon. Sikiru was selected for the honour in acknowledgement of his unwavering support for sports development and his role as a “Pillar of Sport” within the community. He also owns the participating Pink House in this year’s inter-house sports event.
While receiving the award, Hon. Sikiru expressed gratitude to the management of Urban Day Grammar School, Olaogun, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in sports across schools in Egbeda and its environs.
He noted that promoting grassroots sports aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to strengthen sports development across all local government areas in Oyo State.
“Egbeda is proud to be at the forefront of developing sports, and we will continue to support initiatives that nurture young talents,” he added.
