Education: Ib’north Council Chair’, Olufade Begins School Inspection in Ibadan North

Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, has initiated a comprehensive inspection of schools within the local government area.

The inspection tour, which began Tuesday, June 11, 2024, saw Hon. Olufade accompanied by key educational officials, including Mrs. Adewumi, the Education Secretary of Ibadan North, Director of education and social services, Alhaja Ganiyat Durodola, head of Information and photography, lala, Olufunke foluso and other management staffs.

The first school on the inspection itinerary was Methodist N5 Basic School in Ward 4, where the Chairman was welcomed by Headmistress Mrs. Olaniran.

 

Monumental Legacy

She briefed Hon. Olufade on the school’s challenges, highlighting issues such as a shortage of staff and the need for improved welfare for the 145 pupils enrolled.

Next on the list was Ikolaba Community Primary School, headed by Mrs. E.O. Eyigbo, who conducted the Chairman around the school, showcasing its current state and needs. The tour continued to C.A.C Primary Schools 1 and 4, led by Mrs. Akande and Mrs. Ojeleye, respectively.

During the inspections, Oloye Suraju Abiodun, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Education Intervention, joined the entourage. Together, they visited IMG Primary Schools 1, 2, and 3, as well as Alafia Primary School, evaluating the conditions and identifying areas in need of intervention.

Across most schools, common issues included staff shortages, insecurity, infrastructural deficit,and inadequate facilities.

Addressing these concerns, Special adviser to Governor Makinde on education intervention, Oloye Suraju Abiodun assured that the state government would soon implement several interventions to enhance security, infrastructure, and staffing across Oyo State’s schools.

Hon. Olufade pledged the local government’s support, emphasizing their commitment to improving educational standards and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

He assured prompt action to address the identified issues.

 

The inspection tour included Hon. Olufade’s special assistant on education, Oloye Ademola Titilope Ajibola, his head of media, Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, and other media team members, Ayodamope Afolabi and more.

 

The inspection is set to continue next week, aiming to elevate the quality of education in Ibadan North Local Government.
