A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and former Federal Board member, Akeem Adetoyese Ishola has advised the party stakeholders to adopt what he called “collegiate leadership” as a means of sharing party executives in the forthcoming party congress.

He made this statement as a panelist during a political discourse organized by Hon. Tolani Adigun in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

According to him “Winning an election as a political party starts from the day Ward congress is being held and the major problem is a winners take it all idea.

“Collegiate leadership will allow all stakeholders to participate in the process with a fair mind that their interest is well protected and that the sharing formula will be well agreed on.

“It also goes beyond making a choice for people after giving them their shares, those who own the slots should have the liberty to choose whoever they like.

“Once collegiate leadership is adopted, we will get it right from the ward congress to the party primaries but once we adopt winners take it all, we are going to pay dearly for it during the election.

Speaking further, he admonished the youths and women to actively participate in the political process for total inclusion.

“I have seen our women clamouring for equal representation but when the cost of forms come out, they will say they want 50%. You cannot ask for 50% and equal representation at the same time, it is not possible, you are going to fight for it.

“Also, the youths would say give us 40% as a youth, No. Pay the money so that you can have the right ownership of the system”.
