CCII Confers Icon of Ibadan Heritage Award on Wolekanle
The Ibadan Cultural Festival, held under the auspices of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), on Thursday honoured the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, with the prestigious Icon of Ibadan Heritage Award.

Wolekanle was honoured alongside other eminent personalities in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.



He was particularly recognised for his impactful service to the Local Government Service Commission, as well as his broader contributions to governance and grassroots development across the state.


The award was presented by the President-General of CCII, Niyi Ajewole, during the Business Dinner organised as part of activities marking the ongoing Ibadan Cultural Week 2026, held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) axis, Airport Road, Ibadan.
The Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Pastor Adeola Oduola, received the award on his behalf.
In his response, Wolekanle described the recognition as a great honour and a call to greater service. He expressed appreciation to CCII for finding him worthy of the award, noting that the gesture would further strengthen his resolve to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Ibadanland and Oyo State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening local governance and improving the welfare of people at the grassroots level.
