BREAKING: Students Protest Renaming of Polytechnic to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic in Ibadan (VIDEO)
Tension flared at the Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan, this morning as students of the recently renamed Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan staged a protest, demanding the immediate reversal of the institution’s new name.

The protesting students, who stormed the Secretariat in large numbers, chanted solidarity songs and carried placards expressing their dissatisfaction with the renaming decision, which was recently announced by the Oyo State Government.

The demonstration temporarily disrupted activities around the Secretariat as security personnel moved in to prevent escalation of the situation.

The state government had earlier renamed the institution in honour of the late former governor, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, whose contributions to education and public service were recently commemorated with a state executive lying-in-state ceremony.
Details surrounding the students’ grievances and any official response from the government are still unfolding.
