Akintayo Pays Tribute to MKO Abiola, Calls for Leadership Accountability on Democracy Day
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo popularly called (O mu Yes ) has urged the people of Ibadan North East LG and Nigeria as a whole to reflect on the significance of June 12 Democracy Day and reaffirm their commitment to democratic values and principles.
In a release issued by the Council’s Information Officer, Ikeoye Oyetoro, the Chairman noted that the day serves as a reminder of the struggles and sacrifices that have shaped Nigeria’s democratic journey saying that democracy is not just a system of government, but a way of life that requires active participation, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Hon. Akintayo pays tribute to the courage and vision of late Chief MKO Abiola, who fought tirelessly for our democracy. He calls on good Nigerians to reflect on the progress made so far and identify areas that require improvement while stressing the importance of prioritizing national interests and working towards building a more inclusive and prosperous society.
The Council boss urges all citizens to continue to promote peace, unity, and stability, which are essential for Nigeria’s growth and development. He emphasizes the importance of active participation in the democratic process and encourages Nigerians to work together towards a brighter future.
