Ajayi Crowther University Honours Chief Information Officer, Sunday Saanu, For Exceptional Service
Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) bid a fond farewell to Sunday Saanu, Chief Information Officer, University of Ibadan, who completed his one-year sabbatical at the institution. ACU honoured Saanu for his outstanding contributions to the university’s image and public relations during his tenure.
At a colourful ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Timothy Adebayo commended Saanu’s professionalism and dedication, stating, “He has not only met but exceeded our expectations.” Adebayo recalled being impressed by Saanu’s work at UI, which led him to bring the media expert to ACU.
Saanu’s pivotal role in managing a crisis at the university was highlighted, with Adebayo crediting him for suggesting key strategies that restored normalcy. The university’s Librarian, Dr. Bosede Ajiboye, praised Saanu’s writing, saying, “His articles are always a must-read, and his dedication is inspiring.”
Deputy Registrar Mr Olusegun Ojo and Public Relations Officer Mr Olufemi Atoyebi also paid tributes to Saanu, acknowledging the invaluable lessons they learned from him.
An emotional Saanu expressed gratitude for the unexpected honour, promising to continue supporting ACU. He was presented with an award in recognition of his contributions to the university.
