A Heartfelt Tribute to Governor Seyi Makinde on International Youth Day – By Micheal Ogunsina
As a matter of fact, l will make it an open letter.
Dear Governor Seyi Makinde,
I want to on behalf of the Youths of Oyo State appreciate your youth-friendly disposition as the bridge builder, yoke breaker, true father and a phenomenal builder of men.
Your Excellency,
In the last five years of your administration, you have shown unparalleled commitment and support to young people who are passionate and interested about politics, leadership and governance. You have shown us that you’re deliberate about building the next generation of leaders through hands-on, training, empowerment and creating platforms for mentorship.
In the early days of your administration you ignited a national wave by nominating a 27-year-old Seun Fakorede as the youngest ever commissioner and a member of the State Executive Council in 2019 early days of your administration, you ignited by nominating Asiwaju Seun Fakorede as the youngest ever Commissioner and member of State Executive Council in 2019.
Hon. Seun Temi Ashamu was in his early 30s when he became the first commissioner in the Ministry of Energy in Oyo State.
Many of your Special Assistants, Special Advisers, Head of Boards and Agencies are young men in their prime who are graciously learning from you, Your Excellency.
Your Excellency,
Through your support, Our dear Rt. Honorable Edward Adebo Ogundoyin did not only win the party’s nomination, you also supported him to be the Speaker of the State House of Assembly when he was just a little above 30. Majority of our honorable members in the first term and the second term are actually young men.
I became the State Youth Leader of the PDP in Oyo State through your support when I was less than 30 years and I have enjoyed amazing support from you, myself and other young persons in the State Leadership of the Party.
Your Excellency,
An author said that Fathers are Feathers and it is very obvious that you are a worthy and deserving father. The youth of Oyo State are grateful for being a bridge to the future. We strongly commend you for being the right mentor we need to excel at the time no one would have paid us attention but you did pay attention to us, empowered us and showed us you are all about building capacity for the Youths of the State.
Categorically, you are setting the pace for youths you have built and empowered that in the future we have no choice than to offer the right mentorship, leadership and be the right bridge builders for the youth when it’s our time in leadership. We have to pay this opportunity you have given us forward. No excuse.
Oyo Youth aren’t congratulating ourselves on this day but congratulating you, the baba ewe of Oyo (baba for the boys) that congratulations to you sir!
On this day of International Youth Day, I pray that God will continue to enlarge your coast, give you sound health and give you the opportunity to do this on national scale.
Happy International Youth Day Your Excellency!
Signed:
Micheal Ogunsina
State Youth Leader, Oyo State PDP.
