10th NASS: Northern Professionals Throw Weight Behind Akinremi Deputy Speaker Bid
A Northern elites group, Northern Unity and Progressive Alliance, NUPA, has threw their weight behind the aspiration of Hon. Prince Olaide Akinremi Jagaban, as the Deputy Speaker, in the 10th National Assembly, saying his antecedents speak volume.
The group comprising political leaders, and experienced grassroots politicians in the three Northern geo-political regions, led by its Chairman, Comrade Abdulmalik Jethro on Saturday, took the decision during its special consultative meeting held in Kaduna, said the achievements of Hon. Akinremi Jagaban, attracted their endorsement.
Jethro who revealed the unrelenting support of the group to Jagaban, said the ranking member of the House of Representatives have an outstanding achievements which stand him tall among his colleagues at the Green chamber, stressing that all Members-elect will give him bloc votes.
According to him, “Hon. Akinremi possess the leadership ability, to rally people towards a common goal, be it local or national. He is a team player, humble, intelligent and charismatic.
He equally has the ability to help stabilise the Green chamber, with harmonious relationship with executive Arm of Government, under the leadership of Asiwaju/Shettima Presidency, without lowering the image or integrity of the lower chamber, before the Executive Arm of Government and the Nigerian people.
He is the right man for the job, for he will strike the necessary balance, in power equation.
He noted that: “Hon. Akinremi Jagaban has facilitated several projects in all the wards of the Ibadan North Federal constituency and this has never happened before in the history of the constituency.
We are happy the way and manner Hon. Akinremi Jagaban is touching the lives of the less privileged. The legacy projects he attracted are there for all to see.
He continued, “Our group had today, Sunday, March 19, rose unanimously and we endorse Hon. Akinremi for the position of the Deputy Speaker.
“Members of the group are ready to work and ensure that the incoming members of the House of Representatives will count on achievements and reflect the wishes of the people during the June 13, election that will produce principal officers of the 10th House of Representatives.
“We spread across the three geo-political zones in the North, we are crops of highly rated professionals. We are fully on ground in these constituencies, we are ready to work for the success of our Hon. Akinremi Jagaban,” the Chairman said.
Jethro however call for synergy among Members-elect, adding that Nigerians are looking up to then, “the kind of Selection Committee, the House of Representatives to produce will determine largely the achievements it will record in its four years tenure.”
