Sanwo-Olu, Mankinde, Others to Receive Special Honour at Duke’s Economic Summit in London

Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Seyi Makinde, Abayomi Oyebanji, and Dapo Abiodun, along with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, are set to be honored for their outstanding contributions to the creative industry and their efforts in driving socio-economic development.

The prestigious accolades will be presented to the esteemed recipients at the Duke’s Economic Summit, scheduled to take place at the Pullman Hotel in London this May.

In a statement, Mr. Joseph Edgar, Chairman of the Duke of Shomolu Foundation and the main promoter of the Summit, lauded the honorees for their visionary policy initiatives that have propelled the creative industry to achieve significant milestones, including job creation, infrastructural development, education, and tourism.

 

The statement reads in part, “Governor Baba Jide Sanwo-Olu has been hailed as a staunch supporter of theater in Lagos, backing theatrical productions and infrastructural projects aimed at industry development. Similarly, Prince Dapo Abiodun has played a pivotal role in the artistic renaissance witnessed in Ogun State.

Governor Oyebanji of Ekiti State’s support for the successful play “Fajuyi,” which depicted the life of the late Col. Fajuyi, underscores his commitment to arts and culture. Under his administration, Ekiti State has garnered international acclaim in the arts, thanks to direct involvement in the sector.

His Excellency Seyi Makinde’s infrastructural revolution in Oyo State has provided vital support to the creative industry. Rt. Hon. Obasa leads the visionary sub-national legislative house, ensuring a secure legislative framework for the delivery of democracy dividends in Lagos.

The Duke’s Economic Summit serves as an annual international platform for global stakeholders to engage in redefining the creative industry as a key driver of economic growth in Nigeria. Notable speakers include Khalifa Mohammad Sanusi II, Abike Dabiri, Prof. Koyinsola Ajayi SAN, Segun Awolowo, Kola Adeshina, and other esteemed dignitaries.”
