The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the House of Representatives in the last general election from Ibadan North, Hon Lanre Sarumi has expressed shock and grief over the unfortunate explosion that took the lives of people and left many injured.

Lanre Sarumi made his grief known in a letter made available to newsmen this morning. In his words:

Sarumi

Dear esteemed people of Ibadan,

I am profoundly saddened by the tragic news of the recent bomb blast which happened on Dejo Oyeleye Street at Adeyi Avenue, on Tuesday night, claiming the lives of innocent individuals, leaving many injured ,and destroying many properties.
My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this unfortunate incident. It is a painful moment for us all in Bthe odija community, and we stand united in grief and solidarity.

Monumental Legacy

In times like these, we must lean on one another for support and strength. The resilience and unity of the people of Ibadan have always been remarkable, and I do not doubt that together, we will recover from our losses.

I wish to express my utmost confidence in the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde. I believe in his commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Oyo State. As we mourn, we must also look towards justice.
Preliminary investigations have revealed the explosion may have been from explosives stored by illegal miners in the state and we trust that Governor Makinde will conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances behind this tragedy and bring to book those responsible for storing illegal explosives in our neighborhood

To those who are currently battling injuries, I extend my heartfelt prayers for a swift and complete recovery. May you find strength in the love and support of your families and communities during these challenging times. For the families who have lost their loved ones, I pray that God grants you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

In the face of such adversity, we must remain calm and vigilant. Let us not succumb to fear, but rather, let us be vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety of our communities. I implore every citizen of Oyo State to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Our collective efforts can play a crucial role in preventing such tragedies in the future.

Let us stand strong together, supporting the victims of this difficult period. The spirit of Ibadan has always been one of resilience and unity, and it is in these trying times that we must draw upon that strength. May God bless and protect the people of Ibadan and Oyo State.

With heartfelt condolences,

Hon Lanre Sarumi
