RE: Baywood Estates Will Not Affect Agodi Gardens – Oyo Commissioner
Oyo State Commissioner for Lands, Housing & Urban Development, Hon. William Akin-Funmilayo has assured that the proposed Baywood Estates will not affect Agodi Botanical Gardens.
The commissioner debunking the rumor that the state government has finished plans to convert the Agodi Botanical Gardens into housing estates confirmed that an estate has been proposed very near the Agodi Gardens but will not in any way affect the attraction place for fun lovers.
” The government’s attention has been drawn to some spreading rumor that the
the governor has given the order for the conversion of Agodi Gardens into Housing Estates, but I can categorically refute the claim.
” Thou, the state government has approved the building of Baywood Estates for residential purposes but not on the same land with Agodi Gardens and will not in any way affect the Gardens.
” Agodi Gardens is a property of the state government which the state governor is on the verge of renovating and turning the fun garden into a world standard.
Akin-Funmilayo said, the Agodi Gardens which was created in 1967, was destroyed by the Ogunpa flood disaster in 1980 by the raging water but renovated in 2012 and reopened in 2014 is a tourist attraction in the city of Ibadan, which the government of the governor Seyi Makinde is planning to turn into a world amusement and entertainment resort complex for visitors.
The commissioner urged the general public to disregard statements spreading around about the sales of the Agodi Garden and assured that the proposed Housing estate by the state government will not be on the same land as the Agodi Gardens and will not affect it in any way.
