Birthday: Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation Hails Ilaji Resorts Boss, Dotun Sanusi on Philanthropy Gestures

Billionaire businessman, Engr. Dotun Sanusi as part of activities marking his 55th birthday on October 17, 2023, spent ample time with members of the Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation.

Only last year, during his 54th birthday, Sanusi, who owns Ilaji Hotels and Games Resort, Akanran Ibadan, celebrated with people with special needs.

The proprietor of Ibadan College of Arts, Science, and Technology, ICAST, Elebu, Ibadan, who was last Friday elevated from Mogaji to Jagun Olubadan of Ibadan, has always maintained that everything God has blessed him with would continue to be channeled towards putting smiles on the faces of the people.

Since Sanusi, who is the head the of Olugbade compound of Oja’ba, Ibadan, listed the Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of his always-expanding philanthropic gestures, the group has recorded tremendous success in its fight against sickle cell.

Monumental Legacy

Established on 5th February 2018, the Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation, in a letter to Sanusi, who is also the Otun Apesinola of Ibadanland, revealed that “our resources were limited at the outset, and we faced significant challenges in raising awareness and garnering the necessary funds to expand our services. However, thanks to the generous support of donors like you, we took crucial steps toward making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by sickle cell disease.”

“Through community partnerships and outreach programs,” it said, “we have raised awareness about sickle cell disease, dispelling myths and reducing stigma. We are proud to have played a pivotal role in destigmatizing this condition.”

Calling on more influential members of the society like Sanusi to support the group, the Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation disclosed that it has provided specialized healthcare to over 320 warriors.
