History was made in Ibadan north local government on Thursday as Hon. Balogun Olayinka Ajoke was sworn in as the first female House leader.
Hon. Yinka Ajoke’s emerged new House leader of the council, following the change of politically elected office holders in Ibadan North local government.
The new female House leader is representing Ward 10 and Before her swearing-in was the Deputy Leader of the House.
In a chat with our correspondent, Hon. Yinka appreciated the governor, party leaders, her constituents, and residents of IbadanNorthh local government for the opportunity to serve them in a larger capacity.
She said with her position as the leader of the house she will create room for improved and quality legislative masses-oriented representation, as well as contribute more to the success recorded so far by the House in terms of law-making, oversight functions, and other legislative duties.
She reiterated that the step has raised hope of other female lawmakers at the grassroots for women’s inclusion in politics.
Hon. Yinka in her acceptance speech, appreciated the executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the rare opportunity given to women, stating the governor has always been a promise keeper.
Yinka became the first female leader of the house in Ibadan North local government under the Omititun administration.
