Governor Seyi Makinde has been applauded for his unprecedented style of governance, which was of late extended toward sporting activities for students at the grassroots.
Sheriff Segun Adesina (SSA) commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the distribution of sporting facilities across the 33 local governments of the state.
The former board member of the Environmental Protection Tribunal made this commendation in a chat with our correspondent in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, where described it as another major act in the series of ongoing and incoming acts of the Governor having committed his administration into Grass-root sports.
Speaking further, SSA quoted Nelson Mandela’s words, “Sports has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire, it has the power to unite people in a way that nothing else does. It speaks of Youth in a language they understand. Sports can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all forms of discrimination”, saying that Governor Makinde has caught the Mandela bug in giving true meaning to these inspiring words.
“Governor Makinde has therefore taken giant strides in boosting Sports Development in the state like never before”.
SSA said that the module of having each Local Government fully equipped
with sporting facilities will further enhance sports development in the state.
