Ohanaeze Ndigbo Endorses Adekanmbi, Pledges Support for Oyo 2027

The Oyo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has declared its support for the governorship ambition of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

The gathering, which brought together members and stakeholders of the Igbo community in Oyo State, also provided an opportunity for political leaders to emphasise unity, peaceful coexistence and participation in the state’s political process.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, who was in attendance, called for continued support for the political direction of the APM, including the presidential aspiration of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as well as the governorship candidacy of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and other APM candidates.

The engagement underscored the importance of inclusion and the contribution of the Igbo community to the social and economic development of Oyo State.

Speaking at the occasion, Adekanmbi assured the gathering that, if given the mandate, his administration would promote an inclusive government in which residents and communities from different backgrounds would have a sense of belonging.
He emphasised the importance of unity, cooperation and equal participation in building a prosperous Oyo State.
Adekanmbi emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM in May 2026 and has continued engagements with communities and stakeholder groups across the state, with inclusive governance and continuity among themes of his campaign.
The event further highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Igbo community and the people of Oyo State, while reinforcing calls for peaceful coexistence and collective development.
