The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and ALGON Chairman in Oyo State, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, has described the massive turnout of party faithful, supporters and the wave of defections recorded during the APM Statewide Thank You Tour in Egbeda as a clear indication of the growing acceptance of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) across Oyo State.
Hon. Oyedele made the remark on Tuesday while hosting the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open-Salawu, during their Thank You Tour to Egbeda Local Government.
He commended the people of Egbeda for the warm reception accorded to the candidates and applauded party leaders, members and supporters for their unwavering commitment to the APM, saying the impressive attendance and the defection of members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) reflected the increasing confidence of the people in the party’s vision for Oyo State.
According to him, the calibre of individuals joining the APM is a testament to the party’s credibility, inclusive leadership and growing grassroots appeal.
“Today’s event has once again demonstrated that the people of Egbeda are ready to identify with a movement driven by sincerity, development and the collective interest of Oyo State. The influx of new members into our party is a strong signal that the APM continues to gain momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election,” he said.
Sanda assured the governorship candidate and his running mate of the continued support of the people of Egbeda, pledging that party leaders and stakeholders would intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure an overwhelming victory for the APM in the 2027 general elections.
He also appreciated Hon. Adekanmbi and Engr. Open-Salawu for taking the Thank You Tour to the grassroots, describing the initiative as a demonstration of humility, gratitude and a genuine commitment to engaging directly with the people.
The event featured the formal reception of defectors from the APC and ADC into the APM, alongside party executives, ward leaders, women and youth groups, community stakeholders and supporters, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure across Egbeda Local Government.
