Just In: Kidnapped Oriire Pupils, Teachers Regain Freedom After Over 50 Days in Captivity

The pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.

The news of their release was disclosed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, through a post on his verified X account.
“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.

The victims had been held captive for over seven weeks following their abduction, an incident that sparked widespread concern and calls for their safe return.
As of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding their release, including the circumstances leading to their freedom, were yet to be made public.
