Makinde Reaffirms Governance Agenda, Pledges to Stabilise PDP Amid Internal Challenges
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to responsible governance and institutional stability in his latest monthly newsletter, while also pledging to support efforts aimed at resolving internal challenges within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his newsletter, the Governor highlighted the commissioning of 540 newly constructed market stalls in Ibadan North Local Government Area as a practical demonstration of his government’s reform-driven approach to governance.
According to him, the initiative provides a structured alternative for street traders, in line with his administration’s position that reforms must offer viable solutions rather than impose hardship on citizens.
Makinde emphasized that meaningful policy reforms must be guided by adequate preparation, consultation, and provision of necessary infrastructure, noting that government must create pathways for compliance rather than merely issuing directives.
Reflecting on the current political climate within the PDP, the Governor acknowledged the existing challenges facing the party and expressed readiness to contribute to ongoing reconciliation efforts. He maintained that stability within political institutions remains crucial to strengthening democratic confidence and ensuring national progress.
Governor Makinde further assured residents of Oyo State that any major political decisions or plans would be communicated transparently, reaffirming his commitment to steady leadership and governance focused on long-term stability and growth.
