Gunmen Kill Policeman, Kidnap Chinese Expatriate in Attack on Ibadan Company

Gunmen, whose identities remain unknown, have attacked Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, Oyo State, killing a police officer and abducting a Chinese expatriate.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday, describing the assault as a coordinated, commando-style operation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, explained that the attackers stormed the company premises and were confronted by security personnel on duty.

“One police officer tragically lost his life while repelling the attackers, and some of the assailants were injured during the exchange. The Chinese expatriate principal was abducted,” Olayinka said.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, was immediately briefed and directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical teams to the scene.
Security operatives have since launched an intensive bush-combing operation in the area, with efforts ongoing to rescue the abducted expatriate. A full-scale investigation has also been initiated to unravel the circumstances of the attack and apprehend those responsible.

DSP Olayinka reassured residents and workers in the area that enhanced security measures have been deployed and urged the public to provide any information that could aid the ongoing operations.
