Oyo State Ranks 3rd in Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria

A recent report by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has revealed the top states in Nigeria for ease of doing business. According to the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Report, Oyo State has emerged as one of the top performers, ranking 3rd with a score of 62.7%.

The report highlights that Lagos State tops the list with a score of 85.6%, followed by Kaduna State with 65.1%. Oyo State’s ranking is attributed to its business-friendly environment, which has been created through sustained reform execution, improved infrastructure planning, and wider adoption of technology-enabled government services.

Oyo State’s high ranking in the EoDB report presents opportunities for businesses to thrive in the state. With its strategic location and business-friendly environment, Oyo State is an attractive destination for investors. The state’s agricultural and industrial opportunities, including poultry farming, agro-processing, and manufacturing, make it an ideal location for businesses looking to expand or establish themselves in Nigeria.

While Oyo State has made significant progress in improving its business environment,
Governor Makinde’s policies have fostered a business-friendly environment, with streamlined processes and improved infrastructure, making it easier for businesses to thrive in Oyo State.

His administration has prioritized agricultural development, with initiatives like the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), aimed at promoting agribusiness and economic growth. The state has attracted significant investments, including a $100 million Shell Nigeria Gas Limited project, which is expected to boost economic activity and create jobs. Makinde’s administration has organized global investment summits to promote Oyo State’s investment potential.

Under Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State’s economy has grown significantly, with a 2022 GDP of ₦4.05 trillion, reflecting a robust policy environment and investor-friendly climate.

These efforts have contributed to Oyo State’s high ranking in the Ease of Doing Business report, demonstrating Makinde’s commitment to creating a prosperous and thriving economy for the state’s residents
