“My People Come First” — Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) Redefines Representation for Ibadan North~ Bodija Akinwale

In less than two months at the National Assembly, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, fondly known as DoN, has continued to prove that leadership, for him, is not a title but a call to genuine service. Elected by the good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, the young federal lawmaker has demonstrated uncommon commitment and focus on delivering the true dividends of democracy to his constituents.

From my personal interactions and first-hand observations, Hon. Oyekunle has set clear priorities that reflect deep dedication to the mandate given to him by his people. His consistent declaration — “My people come first” — has become not just a slogan but a working philosophy guiding his daily engagements at the Green Chamber.

When I once asked him how he intends to navigate the complexities of legislative responsibilities within such a short period, his response was both humble and resolute:

“My people come first. His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has taught us that public service must always be about the people. You cannot come from his tutorship and not put the people first.”

Indeed, Hon. Oyekunle has less than eight months remaining in this legislative tenure before the next general election—unless an amendment to the electoral calendar changes the course. Yet, he remains unwavering in his determination to make every single day count for the benefit of Ibadan North.

He has assured that his forthcoming constituency initiatives will make a clear statement about his commitment to the people, emphasizing that he is working tirelessly to ensure that the long-overdue benefits and development strides reach every corner of the constituency.

As a proud son of the soil and a keen observer of the evolving political landscape in Ibadan North, I can boldly say that we are indeed fortunate to have Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) representing us at this critical time. He understands the urgency of now—the need to quench the long thirst of the people for effective representation—and he is rising to that challenge with admirable zeal.

With leaders like him, Ibadan North can look to the future with renewed hope and confidence.
