The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, on Thursday sentenced the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment after convicting him on all seven counts filed by the Federal Government.

This online newspaper reports that the court found Kanu guilty on counts 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, for which he received life sentences. He was further handed 20 years imprisonment on count 3 and an additional five years on count 7—both without the option of a fine.

In a consequential order, Justice Omotosho ruled that Kanu should not be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility. The court also directed the forfeiture of his radio transmitter and imposed strict media restrictions, including a ban on accessing social media platforms.
