The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, has been honoured with an Award of Outstanding Leadership in Community Health Development by the National Health Fellows.
The award, according to the organisers, recognises Hon. Sanda’s exceptional leadership and invaluable contributions to health initiatives in Egbeda Local Government, particularly in strengthening maternal health and empowering pregnant women and Primary Health Care (PHC) workers through digital innovations.
The event, organised by the National Health Fellows, brought together health stakeholders and policymakers to discuss challenges surrounding maternal and mental health, as well as innovative solutions for improving healthcare delivery. It also served as a platform to honour local government leaders and individuals who have demonstrated visionary leadership and unwavering support for primary health programmes.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Chairman, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Dr. Monsurat Alaga, expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the achievements of the Egbeda Local Government. She described Hon. Sanda as an exceptional and dedicated leader committed to the well-being of his people.
“Hon. Sanda believes that no mother should lose her life while giving life. That is why his administration continues to invest in primary health care facilities, promote digital health innovations, and support capacity building for our PHC staff,” Dr. Alaga stated.
In his remarks, Hon. Sanda noted that the health-focused initiatives of Egbeda Local Government align with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to ensure accessible and technology-driven healthcare across Oyo State.
