Environmental Stewardship: Ibadan North Chairman, Olufade, Receives Award at Oyo Waste Summit
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has been honoured with an Award of Recognition at the Oyo Waste Summit 2.0 held on Tuesday, September 17, 2025, at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

The award was presented to him in recognition of his remarkable contributions to environmental sustainability, nation building, and climate action.
Receiving the award on behalf of the chairman, his Head of Media, Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, delivered a goodwill message that underscored Olufade’s commitment to sustainable development.

In his message, Hon. Olufade commended the organisers for sustaining the platform, describing the summit as “timely and impactful.”
He noted that this year’s theme, “Tackling Textile and Fashion Waste Through Circular Fashion,” was not only relevant but also a critical call to rethink waste management.

According to him, the fashion and textile industry contributes significantly to waste, but opportunities abound in “repair, reuse, recycling, and upcycling,” which could generate jobs, spur innovation, and support sustainable growth.
He further emphasized that the government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of tackling waste, urging active participation from households, businesses, and industries.

“Let us use this summit as a call to action to see waste not as a burden, but as a resource that can shape a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous Oyo State,” Olufade said.
The Oyo Waste Summit 2.0 brought together stakeholders from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector to explore innovative solutions to waste management challenges in the state.
