Oyo Council Chairmen Celebrate Governor Makinde’s Chieftaincy Honour in Akure
The Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, under the leadership of Hon. Sikiru Sanda, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde and his wife, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, on the conferment of chieftain titles by the Deji of Akure Kingdom.

Governor Makinde was installed as the Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom, while his wife was conferred with the title of Yeye Aare Omoluabi, by His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, during a ceremony held yesterday, Friday, July 18, 2025.
In a statement released by the Forum’s spokesperson, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the council chairmen commended the honour, describing it as a recognition of Governor Makinde’s steadfast commitment to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture and values.

“The conferment of this revered title is a clear testament to Governor Makinde’s selfless service to the people of Oyo State, Nigeria, and humanity at large. He has continually demonstrated leadership that reflects the true essence of the Omoluabi ethos, integrity, humility, and responsibility,” the statement read.
The Forum also applauded the role of Engr. Tamunominini Makinde in supporting the governor’s vision and leadership, noting that her recognition alongside her husband speaks volumes of their joint dedication to public service and cultural heritage.

“We join the good people of Oyo State and the entire Yoruba nation in celebrating this well-deserved honour. Governor Makinde is indeed a true Omoluabi,” the Forum added.
The chieftain ceremony drew dignitaries from across the country and further underscored Governor Makinde’s growing stature as a statesman and cultural ambassador.
