Power Restored, Hope Rekindled: Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) Intervenes in 8-Week Blackout at Old Tribune, Sapati, Ibadan North
Residents of the Old Tribune Office area in Sapati, Ward 1, Ibadan North Federal Constituency, have heaved a sigh of relief after eight long weeks of darkness, frustration, and stalled businesses, residents of Old Tribune, Ibadan North, are finally seeing the light, thanks to the swift and personal intervention of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN).

The community, which had been plunged into darkness due to a faulty transformer, had made several unsuccessful appeals to relevant authorities before reaching out to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election
Speaking with our correspondent, Pastor Yemi Olapade, the community secretary, lamented the hardship residents had faced during the prolonged blackout. “We’ve been in total darkness for over eight weeks. We wrote letters, made phone calls, but nothing changed. It was when we contacted Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) that we finally got help. He visited the site of the damaged transformer himself,” Pastor Olapade stated.

In a decisive move, Hon. Oyekunle made a personal donation of **₦1.5 million** towards the restoration of electricity and immediately facilitated the presence of IBEDC technicians to commence repairs on the faulty transformer.

Alhaji Ajibona Ganiyu, a respected community leader, expressed deep gratitude for the lawmaker’s timely response. “DoN has shown us he is a man of the people. His support in our time of need will not be forgotten. We will stand by him in all his political aspirations,” he said.
Hon. Oyekunle, in his remarks, reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people. “Leadership is about listening and acting. The wellbeing of our communities must come first, and this is just a glimpse of the kind of responsive representation I intend to offer,” he noted.

This intervention underscores DoN’s broader agenda of practical governance and grassroots empowerment across Ibadan North.
The development has further endeared the PDP candidate to the residents of Ward 1 and beyond, as the countdown to the August 16th bye-election continues.
