Hon. Abass Agboworin, Again, Empowers 200 Constituents with Skills, Tools, and Cash Support in Landmark Initiative

In a bold move to boost economic empowerment and reduce poverty among his constituents, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, the lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, has empowered 200 youths, women, and special persons through a comprehensive skills acquisition and support program.

The initiative, held in partnership with the Oyo State unit of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), trained beneficiaries in the production of soap, toilet disinfectants, and liquid bleach. Beyond training, participants also received vital startup tools and capital to establish their own businesses.

At the well-attended event, Hon. Agboworin expressed gratitude to his constituents for their consistent support and reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered representation. “We will continue to seek opportunities to train our people and make them economically valuable to their communities,” he said.

Monumental Legacy

Highlighting the impact of the program, 100 women were equipped with mixer machines, gas burners, cylinders, and N50,000 cash grants to support their businesses. In a show of inclusiveness, another 100 special persons received mobility aids including 100 tricycle wheelchairs, 20 crutches, and 10 walkers.

The State Director of the NDE, Mrs. Steve-Ogundipe Olayinka, lauded the initiative, noting that it aligns with the Directorate’s mission to build capacity and encourage self-reliance. “I give kudos to Hon. Agboworin for his continuous efforts in empowering his constituents through proper training and support,” she said.

Also in attendance was the First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, who praised Hon. Agboworin for consistently impacting lives across his constituency. “Empowering 100 youths and women, as well as 100 special persons, is commendable. This is the kind of initiative that drives sustainable economic development,” she stated.

The event drew a large crowd of dignitaries, including top government officials, political leaders, and PDP stalwarts. Among them were Barr. Muyiwa Makinde; Hon. Dare Adeleke; PDP State Secretary Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; Alhaja Sanni; Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, Chairman, Ibadan North-East LG; Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, Chairman, Ibadan North LG; Hon. Kehinde Akande, Chairman, Ibadan South-West LG; Hon. Adepoju Rahmon, Chairman, Ibadan North-West LG; Hon. Akinyo Alimat; Hon. Adebanjo “Bigger”; and Hon. Isiaka Fatokun.

Hon. Agboworin also used the occasion to rally continued support for Governor Seyi Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pledging to align with the Governor’s developmental vision for Oyo State.
