An Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa, has ordered the Osun State Electoral Commission, OSSIEC to go ahead with the Local Government Election scheduled for tomorrow , following a court order by Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe.
This order was made on Friday, 21st of February, 2025, sequel to a suit brought before the court by the Peoples Democratic Party, one of the political parties participating in the election.

The Osun State Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice , Mr. Oluwole Jimi – Bada stated this while Presenting the outcome of the Court order to Newsmen in Osogbo.
Mr. Jimi – Bada said in view of this , the Judge after going through previous judgement on the issue, declared the Thirty Local Government Areas Chairman seat empty , therefore, OSSIEC should go ahead with a duly Democratic process to fill in the Vacant post of the Chairmen and Councillors .

Mr. Jimi – Bada ” In the light of the above there is nothing preventing the defendant from proceeding for the election scheduled for tomorrow 22nd February, 2025. ”

The State Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice called on Security Operatives including, The Nigerian Police Force NPF, The Nigerian Army, The Department of State Security Services, DSS, The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency , NDLEA, The AMOTEKUN Corps among others are directed to provide adequate security , maintain Law and Order during and after tomorrow’s Local Government Poll.
“Consequently, the Court granted the prayers of the claimant, seeking an order of the court “directing, mandating and compelling the defendants to fill the vacancies across the 30 local government areas of Osun State through a democratic process by proceeding to conduct the local government elections already scheduled by the defendants for 22nd of February, 2025.” The Attorney General reading the court order to Newsmen
