In a significant development for local government employees, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, laid the foundation for the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) building at the Ibadan North Local Government Council Secretariat.

In her welcome address, Comrade Adeniji Oluwakemi, the NULGE Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade for making the foundation laying possible.

She highlighted the struggles with the previous administration, which, despite several promises, failed to provide a suitable location for the NULGE building.

She also appreciated the Chief of Staff of the local government, Hamdy Mustapha, for his activeness in the local government council.

She described Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade as a “talk and do” chairman, noting that since his assumption of office as the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, the council has experienced significant development.

“Our Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has broken that jinx by giving us a befitting place,” she said, appreciating him for fulfilling his promise.

Mr. Akeem Olatunji, the Head of Local Government Administration of Ibadan North Local Government, also addressed the gathering, lauding Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade for his commitment and active performance in the local government.

He compared the foundation laying to the commissioning of the Local Government House by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and expressed his hope that Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade would be the one to commission the building upon its completion.

In his speech, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade greeted the NULGE executives and members with their slogan, to which they responded joyfully.

He declared the day a momentous occasion, noting the numerous obstacles that had previously delayed the project.

He recalled his promise to NULGE at the last party they organized, vowing to lay the foundation and build the structure within a year.

“Today is the day the Lord has made; finally, we have defeated the challenges. I have laid the foundation, and I will build it and it will be commissioned by me within a year by the special grace of God,” he said.

The foundation laying ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief of Staff of Ibadan North Local Government, Hamdy Mustapha; HLGA of Ibadan Local Government, Mr Akeem Olatunji, HLGA of Aare Latosa LCDA, Deacon Aje Olabode; HLGA of Irepodun LCDA, Alhaji Bello Kazeem Adesina; Leader of the Legislative House, Hon.
