2027: Boldly Display PDP Logo on Your Billboards, Makinde Tells Aspirants, Assures Party Will Be on Ballot

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has stated that members of his administration who have political ambitions are free to openly declare their intentions ahead of upcoming elections.

The governor made this known during the 2026 Omi Tuntun Iftar held at the Government House in Ibadan, where he addressed a gathering of political leaders, technocrats, religious figures, heads of ministries, and board chairmen.
Responding to reports that he had barred officials in his government from displaying campaign billboards and banners, Makinde dismissed the claim, insisting that no such restriction exists.

“I read in the news that those working with me who have political ambitions have not been given the freedom to mount their billboards and banners. That is not correct,” the governor said.

He explained that anyone within his administration interested in contesting for political office is at liberty to publicly express their aspiration.

Makinde, however, stressed that such ambitions must be guided by commitment to the people and the progress of the state rather than personal allegiance to him.
“They do not have to be loyal to Seyi Makinde, but to the people of Oyo State and the development of the state,” he stated.

The governor further encouraged aspiring politicians within his government to proudly identify with the Peoples Democratic Party, maintaining that the party remains firmly rooted in the state.

“They should boldly place the PDP logo on their billboards and banners; we are not going anywhere,” he added.

The Omi Tuntun Iftar brought together key stakeholders, including party leaders, government officials, and religious leaders, who gathered to observe the Ramadan fast-breaking while also discussing governance and development issues in the state.
