Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student from the Faculty of Arts for allegedly assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies.
The affected student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a History and International Studies undergraduate, was found guilty of gross misconduct and violation of the institution’s Student Disciplinary Regulations (SDR), particularly Regulation 4.
The decision followed a review by the Student Disciplinary Committee, which submitted its findings to the university authorities.
In an official statement signed by Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, Acting Registrar, the university confirmed that the Acting Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Senate, approved the recommendation for expulsion.
The statement obtained by this online newspaper on Friday, February 14 further directed the student to vacate the university premises immediately and return any university property in their possession.

The reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, particularly acts of violence against staff and faculty members.
The disciplinary decision has been communicated to relevant university departments, including the Dean of Student Affairs, the Faculty of Arts, and the Head of Information and Public Relations.
Authorities at Nnamdi Azikiwe University have reiterated their commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring a safe academic environment for both staff and students.
