A devastating accident occurred early today, June 24, 2025, at the Soka area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State. The collision involved three Nissan Micra taxis and three articulated vehicles, all heading from the Iwo Road axis.
While the exact number of casualties is still being determined, sources indicate that multiple lives were lost, with reports suggesting up to 16 fatalities and 17 injuries. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, is on the scene, managing rescue operations and providing medical attention to the injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 8 am, and emergency responders are working to rescue those trapped in the wreckage. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed, but previous similar incidents have been attributed to brake failure.
The FRSC Sector Commandant, Mrs. Rosemary Alo, confirmed the ongoing rescue operations and assured that the command is working to ascertain the number of casualties. The injured are being treated at nearby hospitals, with some reportedly in critical condition
